Biography

Dr. Nicole Fiorellino is an assistant professor and extension agronomist in the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture at University of Maryland, College Park. Her research and extension program supports agricultural producers in Maryland and focuses on all major agricultural crops, including corn, soybean, wheat, barley, and emerging crops like industrial hemp. Some of her major research includes economic and environmental nitrogen management of traditional and novel crops, specifically developing nitrogen recommendations for industrial hemp, and management and remediation of soils with high phosphorus concentrations. She coordinates corn, soybean, and hemp variety trials at UMD and is interested in presenting the results of the trials to be more useful to growers. She received both her Ph.D. and M.S. from University of Maryland in Environmental Science and Technology and Animal Sciences, respectively, and has been in her current role as a faculty member since 2018.
