An ALEI faculty member recently garnered national recognition for his Extension program. Paul Goeringer, a Principal Faculty Specialist and Extension Specialist with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Managing Director for ALEI at UMCP, received the 2026 Individual National Excellence in Extension award.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, and the Cooperative Extension Foundation give the award to recognize an Extension faculty member who excels at research-based programming, provides visionary leadership, and makes a positive impact on their constituents.
“It’s truly an honor to receive this award from NIFA and APLU. There are very few of us at land-grant universities doing this kind of work in agricultural law outreach, and it’s great to see that our work is valued across the country. At the same time, the award highlights the great work being done here in Maryland,” said Goeringer.
Paul recently attended the Joint Meeting of the National Association of Extension Directors and Administrators and the National Association of Experiment Station Directors in Seattle to receive the award.
