Assistant Secretary, Maryland Department of the Environment

Biography

In this role, Devon oversees the agency’s air, land and water administrations to further Maryland’s climate and economic development goals. Prior to this position, Devon was Acting Director of the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), the state’s energy policy and programmatic department.  In the six years he spent at MEA, Devon also served as MEA’s Chief of Staff and Government Affairs and Communications Director.

With over two decades of policy and economic development experience, Devon has had diverse roles in and out of government, having served as Chief of Staff at the state Department of Business and Economic Development, as Vice President of the Greater Baltimore Committee and as Deputy Chief of Staff for former Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates Cas Taylor from 1999-2003.

Devon graduated from The Woodrow Wilson School of Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia and received his JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law. A lifelong resident of Baltimore City, Devon and his wife live in Roland Park with their two children.
